ONLY A SLAVE

Only a person who is a slave would enslave another.

Only a person who has lost the battle to guilt would take away the weapons of a guilt-fighter.

Only a person who hides from shame would profit on the shame of another.

Only a person who dwells in regret would build houses of regret for someone else.

Only a person who has been used would use others.

Only a person who is stained with impurity would stain someone else.

Only a person who lives in loneliness would force a lonely life on someone else.

Only a person who believes they are worthless would tell others that they are worthless too.

Only a person who listens to the lies of the devil would encourage those same lies in someone else.

Only a person who has lost their hope would destroy someone else’s.

Only a person who is subject to many sleepless nights would wake others from their rest.

Only a person who is bound by darkness would put out the light for someone else.

Only a person who is tied up in disrespect would disrespect others.

Only a person who is broken would break others more.

Only a person who is dead inside would murder someone else.

Only a person who is a slave would enslave another.

So maybe there’s a little bit of an enslaver in all of us?

There is an enslaver in me-it’s my sinful mindset.

And there’s a little bit of a slave too,

(Because if I’m being honest, I relate to both sides, the slave and the enslaver. The hurting and the hurter.)

But my God speaks different words about His children.

As slaves to righteousness, we are not slaves or enslavers of this world.

Thank you, God, for grace.

Because:

You may feel guilty.

You may hide from shame.

You may dwell in regret.

You may feel used.

You may be impure.

You may feel lonely.

You may think you’re worthless.

You may listen to lies.

You may seem hopeless.

You may not sleep.

You may be bound in darkness.

You may be tied in disrespect.

You may be broken.

You may be dead.

You may be an enslaver or a slave.

BUT

If Jesus is your Master,

You are justified.

You are shameless.

You have a future.

You have a purpose.

You are made clean.

You are not alone.

You are priceless.

You know Truth.

You have hope.

You can rest.

You are living in light.

You are respected.

You are being put back together, sanctified.

You are alive.

You are free.

For the slaves in soul and of this world:

Jesus died so your soul can be free.

And if, in this world, your flesh cannot-

We are fighting for you.

For the enslavers of people:

You’re a person too.

Your hands are dirty with the pain and suffering of someone else.

And I hate that.

But, only a slave would enslave others.

And I, too, was once a slave.

So, don’t you see it now?

Human Trafficking is more than just a battle of the flesh.

Ephesians 6:

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood,

but against the rulers,

against the authorities,

against the cosmic powers over this present darkness,

against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Ending slavery is more than freeing some 27 million priceless people.

Ending slavery starts with drawing a connection between both the slaves and enslavers, and the free.

We are all equal people and, at birth, we are all subject to the same mindset.

Ending slavery is about freeing souls and minds from sin.

The souls of both the slaves and the enslavers.

It’s about freeing the souls of sex slaves and the labor slaves.

It’s about freeing the souls of the traffickers and pimps.

It’s about freeing the souls of the average free human, carrying a worldly mindset and a heavy load of hurt and pain.

Human trafficking exists because cultures are saturated in a mindset of always working for self-gain, usually at others’ cost. It all starts with the mindset, not the metal chains.

Oh God, set us free.
